May Giveaway Day

Fancy that!  We've just finished one giveaway and now, here is another.  This one is even more exciting.  If you click on the link to the left of the post, you will go to Sew Mama Sew.  They are co-ordinating a massive giveaway.  When I last checked, there were over 100 responses.  By visiting their blog on May 27, you'll have access to any of the giveaways you want to enter.  Great idea and what a way to cruise around some really fabulous blogs.

Our giveaway is a towel set in any one of our designs.  The set includes a washer, handtowel and full sized bath towel.  They are a perfect gift for a newborn or as a birthday gift for someone a little older.  My 3 buttons each have a different design on their towel and I always know whose wet towel is on the floor after bathtime!  Our towels are a beautiful fluffy cotton and are designed to be washed and washed and washed!  They keep their whiteness really well and the appliques cope with liberal soaking in Napi San and Sard soaker and are not adverse to being tumble dried when you don't have a chance to peg up the washing!  I am also going to include a handful of buttons from our button stash and some trims because it is fun to be surprised!

To win, you need to leave a comment letting us know your best bathroom cleaning tip.  We'll do a random draw to select the winner and just think of all the great cleaning tips you'll be reading!  The competition closes at midnight on May 31 and we'll publish the winner's name on June 1st.  If you are not an Australian visitor you can still enter as we will be happy to ship internationally.

I'll start the ball rolling with my cleaning tip, which, incidentally was passed onto me by my partner in buttons, Sharon.  Bicarb soda is the best shower/bath cleaner around and is cheap as chips.  Use a good handful on a cloth and rub it over surfaces and watch them gleam.  Start thinking and have fun entering!

  4. Bi-carb and vinegar are ESSENTIAL cleaning items for the bathroom. Chuck out all those expensive cleaning products and just use these everyday items for safer and just as good alternatives.

  5. I use good old vinegar and water in a spray bottle and baking soda when scrubbing power is needed. That way I avoid the chemicals.

My best bathroom tip is one from Lush House on Foxtel. A couple of drops of Oil of Cloves mixed with water in a spray bottle kills mould. Spray on surface and leave for 24 hours before cleaning.

  13. My best bathroom tip is if you have a clogged shower head then put some vinegar into a bag and tie it around your showerhead overnight and then give it a wipe and it will take all the deposits out. Works great for people with hard water build up. Or you can take the head down and put it into a container and soak it that way too.

  19. Oh how pretty! My daughter is moving in to a new house next week and is using purple in the bath. Wouldn't this make a great housewarming gift?

My tip: give the bathroom a quick once over every day after showers are taken. I keep those pop up wipes handy and just wipe up the tub and sink every morning. It keeps it from getting too grungy. Once a month deep cleaning is then plenty.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I try to wipe up every day. But for heavy cleaning I use vinegar and baking soda! It keeps everything clean and germ free!

    ReplyDelete
  21. this one might be obvious... but my mom always said to look at the back of the toilet bowl to know how clean a house is. so i am always very careful to scrub it. not IN the bowl, but sort of that behind-the-lid area.

Thanks for a great giveaway and fingers crossed.

  24. My favorite cleaning thing is the shower daily cleaner... spray after you shower... makes everything smell nicer and at least makes me feel like I can clean less. Not sure how true that is.
Love the towels and love the buttons... I kind of collect buttons, this would be awesome to win. I say kind of and what I mean is that I do collect them, there are at least 10 containers full of buttons in my apartment from grandmas and parents.

  29. Not a cleaning product, but I find a good time to clean the bathroom is when my little one is in the tub playing. I'm right there anyway, so a good time to tidy the sink, wipe up, etc.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Love the towels! My tip for bathroom clean-up is to clean the shower/tub right after the shower so the wetness helps to loosen dirt & grime.

    ReplyDelete
  31. These towels are so cute!

We have a frameless shower, so lotsa glass... I hate cleaning shower glass, it can be such a pain, but, my tip is to clean shower glass every day - don't leave it for a week and then bust your butt trying to srub it clean - keep a spray bottle with vinegar in the shower and spray down the glass when you are getting out, easy peasy!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Hi, my tip is, once you have the bath and shower clean use car wax/polish over the entire bath and tiles surface, same principal as on your car - wax on, wax off. It gives a great shine and the water beads and soap scum is less likely to take hold :)

  35. my best tip is to show your toddler child how to wipe and add lots of soap and teach them how to clean the bath tub. No seriously, I love those magic erasers on the bathtub.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Well.. kind of a silly tip, but I get grossed out easily so I learned that the more often you clean, the less horrible it is. If you do a very quick clean while it still looks clean, you only need to dedicate a few moments a week. If not, you have to dedicate a whole afternoon of scrubbing and washing grime!

    ReplyDelete
  37. I just use a vinegar and water to clean also if you get something you don't want to touch .. if you ever get a build up behind your facet of little things you've missed hydrogen peroxide. The one you buy in stores used for cuts let it foam up and it will eat it's way through anything then just wipe away easy. It's a great safe disinfectant

    ReplyDelete
  38. I pour a cup of vinegar or bleach into the toilet bowl, clean up the rest of the bathroom, come back after 10 minutes, scrub the whole bowl with the already bleached water, and flush it down!

    ReplyDelete
  39. Gee - my link crashed when I tried to comment yesterday and now everyone else has used my tips (leave it for hubby, let the 2-yr old clean the toilet) so my next best one is to just keep the door shut so you don't have to think about it!
Thanks for playing over at my place too!

    ReplyDelete
  40. My best bathroom cleaning tip is... Don't let it accumulate. Do a rinse and wipe down every day. It only takes a few seconds. The bathroom always looks nice and you never end up with aweek's worth og gunk on the tile. :)

    ReplyDelete
  41. When I clean my bathroom I put the cleaner in the toilet first thing. Then I scrub down the rest of the bathroom and come back to the toilet. The cleaner has already done the job and then I don't have to scrub very hard. I also tend to use anti bacterial wipes every day on the sink in my kids bathroom to cut down on the tooth paste build up.

Thanks a lot for this great giveaway! Those towels are super cute!

    ReplyDelete
  48. My best tip: I get my husband to do it! No - seriously, I have a 3 year old who loves to play in the bath. She has tea sets, plates, ducks, dolls - everything imaginable in there. My top tip is to get some good storage for toys like these. We have a big frog - you just scoop all the toys into him and then they all just drain out. It makes cleaning so much easier if they are all stored away like that.

Thanks for the chance to enter - I know said daughter would love her own set of gorgeous towels like these.

  49. we're a mixed family household (me, spouse, child, family friend) and the best tip i have is to set up a chart (great for chores in general). we find that the biggest problem is people just not being aware of what needs to be done, but there on the fridge is the chart, with each of the tasks for the weeks, and the initials of the person who completed it. so it is a great reminder and a forum for public shaming!! the towels are super cute!

    ReplyDelete
  50. Cute towel sets! My fav. tip...keeping a small rag or cloth to wipe down the vanity sink after getting ready each morning keeps it looking clean all week long until next cleaning day!

    ReplyDelete
  51. What cute towels! Thank you for entering my name in your great drawing.

I use white vinegar and A&H washing soda in my bathroom. It is great for cleaning & helps keep the drains running clear too with all the fizzy bubbles!

  54. Clove oil is great for getting rid of bathroom mould, spray in a mixture of water and vinegar leave and the wipe off

    ReplyDelete
  55. I love the giveaway. My second little one is on it's way and I was just thinking about how the number of towels in the bathroom was going from just two to a family of four. Being able to tell them apart will be so helpful! My bathroom cleaning tip is not so much for keeping the bathroom clean, but keeping it smelling nice. Pick any essential oil you like, citrus oils work well, and dab some on the inside of the toilet paper roll, or on the tissue box. Just re-apply when the scent starts to disappear and your bathroom should stay smelling fresh.

    ReplyDelete
  56. maybe the less creative but bleach.. always do the trick.. harsh but true :P

    ReplyDelete
  57. Don't let it go too long. But if (when?) that happens convince someone else it is their "turn" to clean it.

    ReplyDelete
  58. Lovely giveaway - my nephew would be the lucky recipient if I win because we LOVE the car set! Thanks for such a great giveaway. My girls are older and the rule for our bathrooms is "what you dirty you clean!" (I can't vouch for it always working, though!) Thanks for visiting my blog earlier. 59. We have started using the daily shower cleaning spray - and my what a difference! I have not had to SCRUB my shower in over 3 months! Yes - I have CLEANED it - but not scrubbed it!

    ReplyDelete
  60. My bathroom cleaning tip...clean as you go...Every time you are in the bathroom, clean a little...and clean as you go. We do this so when it comes to "cleaning day" there is not as much to do which makes the cleaning go quicker. :) Thanks for the chance to win!

    ReplyDelete
  61. How cute! The hardest thing would be deciding who to get these for!

    ReplyDelete
  62. I love the towels and the car set would be perfect for my toddler!! My best bathroom cleaning secret is bio-degradable flushable wipes (I especially like the ones made by Method...do they have those where you are?) They make great and easy cleanups between big heavy cleanings!

    ReplyDelete
  63. I love baking soda! It does wonders on sooo many things. I try to wipe down the sink and tub area every morning after the kids are off to school. Doing a quick swipe every day keeps from having to do major scrubbing later on.
I love the towel sets... my favorite is the heart set!

    ReplyDelete

  65. Uh, do people actually clean? I figured with a new baby around, I don't have to do that kind of thing for months! When I do get around to cleaning, though, I'm a big Comet user.

    ReplyDelete
  66. My best bathroom cleaning tip is to talk hubby into doing it for me :)

Another tip, keep up the sink & mirrors & it won't be as big of a job when you do the rest.

    ReplyDelete
  67. Those are so cute!
My tip is to clean as you go. Wash out the sink while washing your hands, clean the toilet after you use it, wash the shower while in it. It makes it easier than trying to find a time to clean it all at once.

    ReplyDelete
  68. My Tip is marry a man who enjoys even loves cleaning the bathroom.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Keep your old toothbrush for scrubbing those hard to get to places. Thanks for the give away!

  71. Bicarb and vinegar...and my mum's tip was to use newspaper soaked in the above to make all your glass sparkly!

    ReplyDelete
  72. I have a friend (isn't that how people start stories when they don't want to admit it's them???) But, seriously, I have a friend who sprays cleaner in the shower 5 minutes before she turns it on, and then while she's taking her shower, she just spends a couple of minutes and wipes it all down. Thanks for the giveaway!

    ReplyDelete
  73. My tip is using vinegar in hot water to wash the mirrors. Does a wonderful job.

    ReplyDelete
  74. I love your sets!
To keep a bathroom spotless you just don't let anyone use it!
I have a few tips though, bath/shower gel instead of soap tends not to leave as much residue around the bath or shower and is easier to clean off!
Sew two old facewashers together to make a mitten to scrub your bathroom down, they can be washed and reused plus you're recycling!
give your mirror a once over with soap and then polish til shiny - this helps keep the steam away!

    ReplyDelete
  75. I like to use the eco friendly flushable wipes to give my toilet a regular once over!

    These towels are gorgeous!

    ReplyDelete
  76. Who has time to clean the bathroom? (JK-I have a son and my daughter is getting potty trained- It's an everyday thing)

Baby Wipes-So fast and cheap. I spray a little bleach and wipe everything down with baby wipes.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I'll have to read your comments as I don't really have any tips of my own. My only tip is I keep a toilet bowl cleaner in the back of the toilet at all times to keep that job easier instead of scrubbing or having a ring-around-the-bowl type scenario.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I love these! I still need a new towel set for my coming baby boy and the cars are so cute!

    ReplyDelete
  79. My tip is to keep down the pain by using my disposable faceclothes to wipes down the sink and surrounding area every evening. I just rinse 'em out, wipe it down and toss em just like I would if I used them just for my face.

and I know a little boy AND a little girl that would love a special towel set !

    ReplyDelete
  80. I keep all of my cleaning supplies in each of my bathrooms. That way when I get the urge to clean I don't have to go hunting for supplies.

    ReplyDelete
  81. I followed the link from your post on my blog, and I'm so glad I did! You have some really cute ideas here.

The little car set would be so cute for my great-grandson.

My best bathroom cleaning tip is hubby's retirement. He doesn't mind doing it (and why should he, he hasn't been doing it for 30+ years!!) ;-) It certainly makes my life simpler and happier!!!

    ReplyDelete
  82. I keep an old toothbrush under my sink, and when I have a little extra time in the morning or evening I scrub around the sink drain and also the spout of the faucet. You would be surprised by the gunk that builds up where your toothbrushing water comes out of ;)

    ReplyDelete
  83. Bathroom cleaning tip eh? Hmm... get your husband to do it? Haha is that a good idea or what? Seriously though, I'm a big fan of Vim bleach. I live in a humid climate where mildew tends to hide everywhere, so Vim bleach saves me a lot of time. Just pour it straight on and wait awhile and then rinse it off. Easy Peasy.

    ReplyDelete
  84. The towels are great and would make a great 1st birthday gift for my little one. My best tip would be to get a cleaner, i am not much of a cleaner and after having my second, needing some help we got a cleaner and it has been terrific!!

  94. my bathroom cleaning tip is to clean while the kids are in the tub. My children are old enough to wash themselves but I still feel like I need to be in the room with them. So I clean the counter, mirror, and toilet while they are washing.
